About

I have been a passionate bowmaker for 15 years or so. In the last 10 I have honed my skills and gathered as much knowledge on the subject as I could. I have experimented with many bow styles, wood types, draw weights, lengths, and handle materials. I have settled on what I would consider the best bow woods. As well as the optimal bow styles to compliment them. I am always experimenting and researching even when not in my workshop crafting. Bowmaking is my burning passion and personal calling.

I make bows from both boards and staves I harvest myself primarily Oak and Black Locust but am always on the look out for Yew and Osage. Despite older generations insistence that boards will not make a good bow. I have found practically no difference between bows made from trees and boards. With improvements in kiln technology amazing hunting bows can now be made from ready to use boards.

I primarily make what are known as selfbows. A bow that is a single piece of wood with no backing. I find the less moving parts in a bow the less that can go wrong. Always helpful when hunting in rugged and unforgiving terrain.

Each bow is sealed with several layers of oil to protect it from the elements. I use a number of sealants such as boiled linseed oil, tung oil, tru-oil and even paraffin wax.

I aim to make every bow practical and functional for daily life, whether that be for hunting or target shooting purposes. I feel as if I put some of my own soul into these pieces and hope you will enjoy using them as much as I did crafting them.

Warm Regards,
